Bertrand Chamayou’s debut recording, this album answers a question he had already posed in his booklet: why do pianists so rarely turn to Mendelssohn’s piano works? The programme brings together sparkling miniatures (Romances sans paroles, Prelude) and more substantial pieces such as the Variations sérieuses and the Rondo capriccioso, Op. 14, complemented by transcriptions, including the famous Scherzo from A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
