A leading exponent of French music<\/strong>, Bertrand Chamayou<\/strong> has established himself as one of the leading figures in the world of piano today. His extensive repertoire includes, in particular, the complete piano works of Ravel<\/em>, the Education<\/em> and the Years of pilgrimage<\/em> from Liszt<\/em>, as well as the Twenty Perspectives on the Infant Jesus<\/em> from Messiaen<\/em>. At the same time, it maintains a close relationship with the contemporary arts scene, collaborating with Pierre Boulez<\/strong>, Henri Dutilleux<\/strong>, Gy\u00f6rgy Kurt\u00e1g<\/strong>, Thomas Ad\u00e8s<\/strong>, Bryce Dessner<\/strong> and Michael Jarrell<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Having presented the complete piano works of Ravel<\/em> at several major summer festivals \u2013 Radio France Occitanie Montpellier Festival<\/strong>, La Roque d\u2019Anth\u00e9ron Festival<\/strong> and Menton Festival<\/strong> \u2013, it kicks off the 2025\u20132026 season at the Lucerne Festival<\/strong>, in which he plays the Piano Concerto<\/em> of\u2019Unsuk Chin<\/strong> with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra<\/strong> directed by Karina Canellakis<\/strong>, before launching the 2025 edition of his own Ravel Festival<\/strong> \u00e0 Saint-Jean-de-Luz<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The season continues with a number of major events: the Orchestre National de France<\/strong> edited by Lorenzo Viotti<\/strong>, the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra<\/strong> with Thomas Ad\u00e8s<\/strong>, the Toulouse Capitole National Orchestra<\/strong> directed by Tarmo Peltokoski<\/strong> in the Turangal\u00eela-Symphony<\/em>, which he then continues with Esa-Pekka Salonen<\/strong> and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra<\/strong>. He has also been invited by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra<\/strong> alongside Barbara Hannigan<\/strong>, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra<\/strong> directed by Blue Stone<\/strong>, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra<\/strong>, the Philharmonia Orchestra<\/strong>, as well as the BBC Symphony Orchestra<\/strong> with Sakari Oramo<\/strong>, in London and then on tour in China. Other highlights of the season also include concerts with the\u2019Atlanta Symphony Orchestra<\/strong> edited by Philippe Jordan<\/strong> and the Frankfurt HR Symphony Orchestra<\/strong> directed by Dalia Stasevska<\/strong>. In the field of chamber music, he continues his collaboration with Barbara Hannigan<\/strong> in major European venues, notably at the Vienna Konzerthaus<\/strong>, at the Muziekgebouw, Amsterdam<\/strong> and at the Bozar, Brussels<\/strong>, ahead of a tour with Leif Ove Andsnes<\/strong> to mark the release of their new album on Warner\/Erato<\/strong>. He also performs as part of a duo with Antoine Tamestit<\/strong> in London and in the Vienna Musikverein<\/strong>, whilst continuing its long-standing collaboration with Sol Gabetta<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bertrand Chamayou<\/strong> is regularly invited to perform with the world\u2019s leading orchestras, including the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra<\/strong>, the New York Philharmonic<\/strong>, the orchestras of Cleveland<\/strong>, San Francisco<\/strong>, Pittsburgh<\/strong>, Chicago<\/strong>, Atlanta<\/strong>, Montreal<\/strong>, Vienna<\/strong> and London<\/strong>, the Orchestre de Paris<\/strong>, the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra<\/strong>, the Orchestre National de France<\/strong>, the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra<\/strong>, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra<\/strong>, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen<\/strong>, the radio orchestras of Munich<\/strong>, Frankfurt<\/strong>, Cologne<\/strong> and Copenhagen<\/strong>, as well as the NHK Symphony Orchestra<\/strong>, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra<\/strong> and the\u2019Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia<\/strong>. In particular, he has performed under the baton of Pierre Boulez<\/strong> and Sir Neville Marriner<\/strong>, and now works with chefs such as\u2019Esa-Pekka Salonen<\/strong>, Herbert Blomstedt<\/strong>, Semyon Bychkov<\/strong>, Charles Dutoit<\/strong>, Mikko Franck<\/strong>, Santtu-Matias Rouvali<\/strong>, Krzysztof Urba\u0144ski<\/strong>, Philippe Herreweghe<\/strong>, Gianandrea Noseda<\/strong>, Philippe Jordan<\/strong>, Andris Nelsons<\/strong>, Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Roth<\/strong>, Tugan Sokhiev<\/strong>, Sir Antonio Pappano<\/strong> or Elim Chan<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

A highly sought-after chamber musician, Bertrand Chamayou<\/strong> regularly shares the stage with Sol Gabetta<\/strong>, Barbara Hannigan<\/strong>, Vilde Frang<\/strong>, Renaud Capu\u00e7on<\/strong>, Gautier Capu\u00e7on<\/strong>, Leif Ove Andsnes<\/strong>, the Quatuor \u00c9b\u00e8ne<\/strong> or Antoine Tamestit<\/strong>. His commitment to contemporary composition is particularly evident in his collaborations with today\u2019s composers, including Micha\u00ebl Jarrell<\/strong>, who dedicated his latest work to him Piano Concerto<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

His discography, which has been unanimously praised by critics, includes, in particular, a recording devoted to C\u00e9sar Franck<\/strong> for Na\u00efve<\/strong>, a multiple award-winner. His portrayal of the Piano Concertos Nos. 2 and 5<\/em> from Camille Saint-Sa\u00ebns<\/strong> received the Gramophone Recording of the Year<\/strong> in 2019. The only artist to have won the Victoires de la Musique Classique five times<\/strong>, he is recording exclusively for Warner\/Erato<\/strong>. His complete recording of the piano works of Ravel<\/em> was also awarded a ECHO Klassik<\/strong> in 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n

Born in Toulouse<\/strong>, Bertrand Chamayou<\/strong> was spotted at a very early age by the pianist Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Heisser<\/strong>, who became his teacher at the Paris Conservatoire<\/strong>. He then went on to study in London under Maria Curcio<\/strong>.
