One of the most distinctive pianists of his generation, Bertrand Chamayou<\/strong> combines a deep affinity with the French repertoire with a fascination for the great landmarks of the piano literature and an enduring commitment to the music of our time. From Ravel<\/em>\u2019s complete works for solo piano and Liszt<\/em>\u2019s \u00c9tudes<\/em> and Ann\u00e9es de p\u00e8lerinage<\/em> to Messiaen<\/em>\u2019s monumental Vingt Regards sur l\u2019Enfant-J\u00e9sus<\/em>, he has made ambitious, immersive projects a defining feature of his artistic life. Alongside them runs a constant dialogue with living composers, making discovery and reinvention as central to his identity as his relationship with the core repertoire.<\/span><\/p>\n

That spirit of exploration shapes his 2026\/27 season. At its heart is the release on Warner\/Erato<\/strong> of his complete recording of Mendelssohn<\/em>\u2019s Songs without Words<\/em>, which he takes beyond the recording studio into a recital programme exploring the idea of music as song without text, from Mendelssohn<\/em> to Takemitsu<\/em>\u2019s transcriptions of Paul McCartney<\/em>. Following its launch at the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre des Champs-\u00c9lys\u00e9es<\/strong>, the programme travels to Wigmore Hall<\/strong>, Gulbenkian<\/strong>, Harpa<\/strong> Reykjav\u00edk, Rudolfinum<\/strong> Prague, Op\u00e9ra de Lyon<\/strong>, Toronto, Montreal, Klavier-Festival Ruhr<\/strong> and La Roque d\u2019Anth\u00e9ron<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The same breadth is reflected on the orchestral stage. He makes debuts with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra<\/strong> and George Benjamin<\/strong>, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra<\/strong> and Nicholas Collon<\/strong>, and Munich Philharmonic<\/strong> with Barbara Hannigan<\/strong>. He returns to the Orchestre de Paris<\/strong> with Esa-Pekka Salonen<\/strong> to perform both Ravel<\/em> concertos in a single programme, and reunites with the London Symphony Orchestra<\/strong> and Thomas Ad\u00e8s<\/strong>, Oslo Philharmonic<\/strong> and Vasily Petrenko<\/strong>, Santa Cecilia<\/strong> and Tarmo Peltokoski<\/strong>, NDR Elbphilharmonie<\/strong> and Barbara Hannigan<\/strong>, and Ensemble intercontemporain<\/strong> under Pierre Bleuse<\/strong>. He is Artist in Residence at both Wigmore Hall<\/strong> and with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra<\/strong> throughout the season.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Berlin, he revisits one of the defining projects of his career, performing Messiaen<\/em>\u2019s complete Vingt Regards sur l\u2019Enfant-J\u00e9sus<\/em> in a one-off concert at the Philharmonie<\/strong>. His commitment to contemporary music is equally fundamental: he worked closely with Pierre Boulez<\/strong>, Henri Dutilleux<\/strong> and Gy\u00f6rgy Kurt\u00e1g<\/strong>, and has developed relationships with composers including Thomas Ad\u00e8s<\/strong>, Unsuk Chin<\/strong>, Bryce Dessner<\/strong> and Michael Jarrell<\/strong>, whose piano concerto Reflections<\/em> was written for him.<\/span><\/p>\n

Collaboration provides another thread through his musical life. In 2026\/27 he tours with two long-standing artistic partners: Sol Gabetta<\/strong>, including the duo\u2019s first appearance together in the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez<\/strong> at the Philharmonie de Paris<\/strong>, and Barbara Hannigan<\/strong>, with whom he undertakes an extensive European recital tour. His growing presence in Asia continues with a Korean tour alongside the Orchestre National de France<\/strong> and Cristian M\u0103celaru<\/strong>, appearances with the Shanghai<\/strong> and Guangzhou<\/strong> Symphony orchestras, and a Mendelssohn<\/em> recital in Shanghai.<\/span><\/p>\n

His international orchestral career has taken him to the Wiener Philharmoniker<\/strong>, New York Philharmonic<\/strong>, Cleveland Orchestra<\/strong>, Chicago Symphony Orchestra<\/strong>, San Francisco Symphony<\/strong>, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra<\/strong>, London Symphony Orchestra<\/strong>, Philharmonia Orchestra<\/strong>, Orchestre de Paris<\/strong>, Orchestre National de France<\/strong>, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France<\/strong>, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig<\/strong>, Tonhalle-Orchester Z\u00fcrich<\/strong> and Orchestra dell\u2019Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia<\/strong>. He has performed under conductors including Pierre Boulez<\/strong>, Esa-Pekka Salonen<\/strong>, Herbert Blomstedt<\/strong>, Semyon Bychkov<\/strong>, Thomas Ad\u00e8s<\/strong>, Philippe Jordan<\/strong>, Andris Nelsons<\/strong>, Sir Antonio Pappano<\/strong>, Tugan Sokhiev<\/strong>, Gianandrea Noseda<\/strong>, Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Roth<\/strong> and Mikko Franck<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

An exclusive Warner Classics\/Erato<\/strong> artist, Bertrand Chamayou<\/strong> has built a critically acclaimed discography reflecting the breadth of his repertoire, his curiosity and his adventurous approach to music. From Liszt<\/em>\u2019s Ann\u00e9es de p\u00e8lerinage<\/em> and the complete solo piano works of Ravel<\/em>, awarded an ECHO Klassik<\/strong> in 2016, to Saint-Sa\u00ebns<\/em>\u2019 Piano Concertos Nos. 2 and 5<\/em>, named Gramophone\u2019s Recording of the Year<\/strong> in 2019, his recordings have earned international acclaim. Among his most ambitious projects is Messiaen<\/em>\u2019s monumental Vingt Regards sur l\u2019Enfant-J\u00e9sus<\/em> (2022), alongside more personal and imaginative programmes such as Good Night!<\/em>, Letter(s) to Erik Satie<\/em> and Cage\u00b2<\/em>, devoted to the music of John Cage<\/em>. His recent recording of Schubert<\/em>\u2019s works for piano four hands with Leif Ove Andsnes<\/strong> won the Piano Award at the 2026 Gramophone Classical Music Awards<\/strong>, marking his second Gramophone triumph.
